The Vessel as a Vehicle for Something Else, 2019
Muslin cloth and linen soaked in harvested clay, Formply board, Ajax spray and wipe, plastic bin, Hake brush, two sandstone blocks, 30 porcelain Mother Mary statues, LED light tubes. (rotating materials)

In various installations, in different rooms, in changing light, on diverse surfaces, with fluctuating colours of mud, I have explored how an image or object becomes sacred, how through a physical form one moves towards something else. These works are spaces of colour, light, material and mud, manipulating the feeling of a transcendental atmosphere. It has been a process of adding and subtracting, creating both cathedrals and simple road shrines, studying the effect of both. I have come to rest on a quiet elemental contemplation of space, allowing the colour, fabric, lights to invite viewers to enter and rest within the glowing atmosphere of mud.
